Pole of Cold
The journey begins in Yakutsk, where you need to get by yourself. From Moscow it is possible to fly direct flights of airlines “Yakutia” and “Siberia“. Departure from Moscow in the evening before the start of the tour. You can also get by Siberia Airlines flight with docking in Novosibirsk. We recommend that you fly by flight, which arrives in Yakutsk at 9:30.
Tour Program Expedition to the Pole of Cold
Day 1. Expedition to the Pole of Cold. The arrival
Arrival in the city of Yakutsk. Our team will meet you at the airport and make a transfer to the central hotel “Lena”. According to the tour the accommodation is made in double rooms. Rest after the plane.
After lunch there will be an excursion to the ethnographic complex, where you will be able to participate in the unique traditional rite.
Further the group will visit unique and fascinating underground ice galleries where you can make beautiful photos. Dinner at the restaurant, transfer to hotel, rest.
Day 2. Expedition to the Pole of Cold. Transfer to Khandyga
Departure by special cars to the village of Khandyga. In the middle of the day, lunch. Stop overnight in Khandyga settlement, hotel accommodation, dinner, rest.
Day 3. Expedition to the Pole of Cold. Transfer on “Road on Bones”
Breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Oymyakon (567 km), time in motion approximately 12 – 14 hours. The route runs along the unique “Road on Bones” road built by GULAG prisoners during the Stalin era.
Lunch in the car. Accommodation and dinner at a private hotel in Oymyakon, rest.
Day 4. Expedition to the Pole of Cold. The coldest place on the Earth
Breakfast at the hotel. You will see a ritual ceremony of cleansing, conducted by local shamans. The ritual includes sacred lighting, feeding fire and singing.
Excursion to the place where the most negative temperature was recorded (-71.2 C). Obtaining in the administration of Oymyakon a special certificate “Pole of Cold”, confirming the visit to the coldest place in the world.
Dinner at the hotel, Russian bath, rest.
Day 5. Expedition to the Pole of Cold. Ice fishing
Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, the group travels to the Indigirka River (15-20 km from Oymyakon), where tourists are given a unique opportunity to participate and experience ice fishing at low temperatures. Also, tourists will be introduced to local cuisine such as stroganina. On request, you can swim in the Indigirka River at -50 degrees Celsius.
Then the group goes to the farm, where you will see a unique Yakut horse, which produces food under the snow for a whole winter and kept all the time outdoors. Acquaintance with the life of horse-breeders, riding a horse.
Next, the group will be presented with the most interesting features of things at super-low temperatures. Trust me, it is really interesting to see how it behaves a casual things such as a tomato or a wet towel when it’s -60 degrees outside.
In the evening, the group dines at the hotel, rest.
Day 6. Expedition to the Pole of Cold. Riding on Reindeer
Breakfast. Departure on the route Oymyakon – Tomtor – Yuciugey, where you will get acquainted with the interesting and fascinating life of reindeer breeders, ride on a beautiful reindeer. Lunch will be held in reindeer herders in national dwellings.
In the evening, departure to Khandyga, accommodation at the hotel, dinner.
Day 7. Expedition to the Pole of Cold. Departure to Yakutsk
Breakfast. Departure to Yakutsk. Arrival to Yakutsk. Visit jewelry, souvenir shops. Accommodation in the hotel “Lena”. Dinner at the restaurant. Rest at the hotel.
Day 8. Expedition to the Pole of Cold. Goodbye!
Breakfast. Airport transfer. Departure from Yakutsk.
